Advancing Opportunities is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Accounting Specialist.
Job Summary: The Accounting Specialist Performs the following duties as part of the activities required to meet payment deadlines and organizational objectives.
Required Skills, Abilities, and Responsibilities:
- The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepare and record period end journal transactions.
- General ledger account analysis, including bank reconciliations.
- Maintain and reconcile various support and analysis schedules.
- Prepare Government contract and ROE
- Prepare Supportive Housing renewals and monthly reports
- Investigating Social Security inquiries
- Produce period end financial statements.
- Analyze and investigate budget variances.
- Support the Controller as required.
- Assist in preparation and processing of Payroll, Accounts Payable and Purchasing as required.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of Accounting Software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education and Experience: Bachelor in Accounting or Finance with 1-2 years related experience and/or training;
Essential Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with Advanced Excel skills a must
- Effective Communication skills
- Maintain up-to-date W9 information and vendor forms
- Maintain accurate and complete records for audits
- Accounting Skills necessary to understand and complete journal entry and General Ledger reconciliations
- Attention to Detail
- Trustworthy ability to maintain confidentiality about company processes/procedures/business operations and financial information.
- Good Attendance/Work Ethic
- Ability to learn Microsoft Dynamics and new software packages
