RN  will:

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree/Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Current NJ State License RN

Summary of Essential Duties: To advance ethical practice and professionalism while supporting protection emotional stability and healthy childhood development through service coordination, linkage etc.

· To provide medical care, promote health maintenance and to provide health education to clients

· Maintains and reviews immunization records for all clients attending program. Reports to the Commissioner and/or the Department of Health the results of tuberculosis screening,

· immunization status and required communicable diseases

· Observes and recommends exclusion of clients who show evidence of communicable disease such as, but not limited to pediculosis, scabies, tinea capitis and conjunctivitis. Sends notification to parents regarding incidence of communicable disease in program (e.g. chicken pox, strep throat)

· Arranges dental screenings annually if available

· Conducts vision and audio screenings on an annual basis. Makes referrals as needed

· Conducts yearly screenings for scoliosis on all clients ten years of age through eighteen years of age, makes referrals as needed

· Conducts nutrition screening and counseling (limited)

· Conducts pain assessments and follows up with findings as needed

· Cares for sick and injured clients and arranges for appropriate course of action.

· Contacts parents and principal regarding illness or injury

· Cares for sick or injured staff and arranges for appropriate course of action

· Completes workman’s compensation form when staff injury occurs and submits to Program

· Provides health teaching and counseling to each student regarding medications, illness, self care and other pertinent medical issues

· Provides staff in-servicing and health education

· Prepares health reports on an as needed basis for case conferences which include; medication administered, nursing goals, health and immunization review, etc

· In case of an emergency, nurse in conjunction with the Program Director, makes decisions regarding health care of children in the program during program hours pursuant to First Aid Protocol

To document accurately and effectively all clinical and staffing services provided.

· Maintains log documentation and Client Files

· Collects medical information and consent forms from parent/guardian and shares information with the child study team

· Completes incident reports when there is an injury, physical control

· Administers medications/ treatments to the clients as ordered by the physician/APN

· Documents the dispensing of medication in the Medication Administration Records (MAR)

· Orders and stores medications and first aid supplies. Obtains program directors approval for the purchase of such supplies

Documents all weekly contacts on behalf of youth and family Documents using clear, concise clinical language that accurately represents case management efforts-service linkage and coordination. Coordinates and supervises staff scheduling within the home. Comply with and participates in IAIU and program inspections.

The ideal candidate will:

Demonstrate empathy and compassion in conduct towards youth The employee will cooperate with the license and the applicable State department or division licensing unit with any legally mandated inspections or investigations Value-based Nurturing and Supportive

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior relevant experience with youth with I/DD challenges One-year nursing experience
